Sorry for the no posts the past weeks. But I think this post of Lugang Cafe in Greenhills will make up for it. We had a feast. The barkada decided to have a family dinner and movie night so this is the resto that was chosen. Transformers was to follow after so I was really excited for this night. My best friend Angelo and I were already texting (yes we don’t BBM. We’re cool like that) each other 2 days before on what we would order. We had the Spare Ribs with Cumin, 3 Cup Chicken, Crab Roe Xiao Long Bao and Fish Head as the main events. Oh yes, we come prepared.

Me being the excited and always on time one, arrived first with Ants. I heard they also served Chilled Tofu with Century Egg here mala Mann Hann, so I ordered that while waiting for rest to arrive. Along with a cold beer. We were supposedly 8 but then Den was able to follow so we were 9 total. The tofu was good but I find the Mann Hann one better. Too much excitement and we forgot to take a pic of the dish. It wasn’t bad at all and I’d order it again.

So the rest arrived and decided pretty much to let Angelo and I do the ordering. Alright! My back ups of the Spicy Beef and String Beans with Salted Egg can be ordered! Turns out they were out of the Spare Ribs with Cumin :(

I won’t go into detail of each dish but these were what stood out for me:

Crab Roe Xiao Long Bao- Honestly I’m not a big fan of Xiao Long Bao but if you’re gonna order, this is a wonderful twist to the dish. You really taste the crab roe.

3 Cup Chicken - This was one of my favorites of the night. The big roasted garlic cloves went great with it.

Stir Fried Beef with Chili - A simple stir fry with whole red chilis. I ate the chilis. Simple yet tasty and delicious.

Crispy Fried Chicken - The skin was perfectly crisp, the sauce that came with it was unique and tasty but I ordered a side of salt n pepper mix. A dash of it on the skin is cholesterol heaven!

Fish Head - This was our main event. I thought it was really tasty and scrumptious but I must say I like the one in the Hunaan Resto by Rockwell better.

Special mention: Taiwanese Stewed Minced Pork- It tasted like the one I ate in a Taiwanese Cafeteria in Banawe. Perfect with steamed rice.

There also some sort of clam soup, Abalone w Mushroom and Golden Fried Rice. I didn’t try the soup. I wouldn’t order the Abalone dish again and the rice was so so. Yes I told you we ordered a feast. Tapos may desserts pa!! Some Mango jelly pudding and that bean paste tower. I’m not a fan of desserts so maybe the rest should be the judge.

This is my second time at Lugang Cafe and the place definitely won’t disappoint. We were 9 pax total and the bill was P4948 something. What a great deal! We were super full and tummy satisfied. I must admit I enjoyed this better than watching Ironhide die :(

Who doesn’t like burgers anyway? I pass this place almost everyday. I used to buy my Tequila here. The owner would give it to me for like 800 bucks, 1 liter. Then one day, the store was gone. It was replaced by a signage that said, FOOD CAMP….

So everytime I passed this place I kept telling myself, wonder if it’s any good. Once I decided to check on it in Facebook, blogs, etc. Read alot of good reviews. Finally on my way to Mondial I decided to give it a try. It was an off time, around 930pm. There was one other table there when we arrived. The owner Bingbong, was very friendly. He suggested their bestsellers. And also told us their breads were homemade. And that he was a burger fanatic.

So decided to try the Jalapeno Sticks, Bravo and Charlie. They were all good. The size of the burger was just right. And they had some good Chipotle Tabasco. I didn’t notice though in the menu, you could choose what sauce to put. Plain mayo, ketchup, BBQ sauce, aioli, and Russian Dressing. I guess they assumed I would like BBQ so that’s what they put on mine. I would’ve gotten the Aioli. In any case, all burgers were good and the bread was nice. And the burgers come with a hefty amount of home made potato wedges. Maybe a little toasted would be better. Oh, and the burgers came with a hefty amount of potato wedges. What surprised me was their prices. Their Bravo was P150. How much is a Big Mac now at McDonald’s?

The only downside was the game showing on the flatscreen. Miami lost that one. Which doesn’t really matter coz they lost today and I’m not so fond of Lebron anymore…But that’s for another blog….

Food Camp is located on Katipunan Ave, Blueridge. Right next to the old Banapple. They deliver too.

Finally, my 1st, at 2nds.

My good friend Maggie has been raving about this resto ever since it wasn’t even open to the public. After drooling countless times seeing twitpic after twitpic, we finally found a way to convince my family to treat us there for dinner, hehe.

Being my usual self, I searched back at some of the blogs I read about them. And to my surprise, Chef Miko Reyes is an old friend and good friend of my brother. So this added even more excitement to this night.

As I walked in, nothing surprised me coz of all the pics I’ve seen of the place. But nothing disappointed either. We made reservations so the waiter led us to our table at the back. Just reading the menu, I could tell that these people enjoyed the finer and yet simple foods in life. So, after some debate, we all knew what to get.

We started off with the Buffalo Bacon Chicharon. I wasn’t gonna go home without trying this. And it lived up to its reputation. It’s bacon. But really GOOD bacon. With buffalo sauce. And blue cheese. Mmmmmmmm

Next up I ordered the Guiness Chili. Hearty chili con carne loaded with I must add, thick chunks of beef, red and white beans, simmered for 4 hours with Guiness, topped with Provolone and creme fraiche. I must admit I was expecting to taste more of the Guiness. But if you are craving for a hearty bowl of chili con carne on a rainy day, this will not let you down.

My son Gabe wanted to order the ribeye steak. But decided to try the Beef Rib Adobo. He was so delighted how he could easily separate the meat from the bone and was so tender and succulent. The flavors of adobo and garlic were just right and I, of course had about five spoonfuls from him. He had 2 orders of rice. So goood.

Ants was in the mood for a burger. The Benedict Burger was highly approved and recommended by Maggie so that was what she got. Man was it a site when the waiter layed that beautiful piece of Burger fantasy on the table. I watched as she took the first bite. And waited for her to offer me the next haha. Delicioso!!!!! The burger was thick. The egg was cooked perfectly. The spam was hidden just enough for you to taste it. And they served extra sauce on the side coz it could get too overpowering at times. Ants said she would definitely go back and get this again.

My mom ordered the Sherry Lewis Cheesesteak. The menu said sliced lamb and sauteed onions, melted cheddar and emmenthal and toasted pine nuts. A different twist to the cheesesteak sandwich. The meat was tender though it didn’t have the lamb taste I was looking for. I also thought the bread could have been cooked a tad bit longer. But the serving was big and the presentation was appetizing.

My dad ordered the Lazy Aglio Oglio and raved about it. He is a very hard food critic to please and the simplest pasta dish of black olives, anchovies, garlic and olive oil could get a mouthful of criticism. It didn’t. He said it was excellent.

Comfort food at its finest, priced just right, I am definitely coming back for 2nds.

Sorry for the delayed post. We were lucky enough to be part of Bowler Restobar’s food tasting last week. They are beefing up their menu with new dishes and improving some of their existing ones.

I wasn’t able to take pics of all of them but the ones that stood out for me were the Bowler Fish Cakes. Their own version, topped with tartar sauce and capers was delicious. The filling had a mix of salmon and dory and the crust was just right.

The ribs were awesome!!! Succulent, juicy, tangy and just the right bite. I personally don’t like my ribs falling off the bone. I like a little challenge and this was cooked just the way I like it.

The burgers were also spectacular. I wasn’t able to take pics tho and we had like 5 different patties to choose from, hehe. But I’m sure the final chosen burger will definitely hit the spot for those burger cravings we all get.

And of course the striploin and ribeye steaks were superb! Juicy, tender, tasty with just the right saltiness. Yuuuummmmm!

Thanks Rommel for the food trip! If you guys work in Salcedo Village or live in the area, do come over for a taste of good ol comfort food. Monday nights play host to Rockeoke..and I hear Wednesday nights are full of surprises… ;P

Bowler Restobar is located on the G/F Paseo Parkview Suites, Valero cor SedeƱo St., Salcedo Village

Im a big fan of Mexican food. Alot have been popping up here and I have yet to try them all. Next on my list are Chihuahua, Hermanos, and B&T. And that one in Clark.

I was super full before coming to Orale that I didn’t even get to order my own food. Luckily, I got to taste everyone else’s. The interiors of the place had a nice Mexican feel to it. I liked how the menu was big and on the wall for you to see. Order at the counter style.

The Barbacoa Grande burrito wasn’t as big as the burrito of Ristras, but had more of the authentic stinky flavor I was looking for in a burrito. It came with a generous amount of Jalapeno peppers which I liked. The homemade Totopos (tortilla chips) was a bit too…hard…for me. The freshly made tomato salsa was a good accompaniment to the burrito and the Totopos. The burrito had just a tad bit too much rice for me but overall it was very good.

The Pollo Asado Quesadilla was a bit dry. The chicken could’ve been more tasty and I prefer more cheese on my Quesadilla. The flour tortilla was a bit too thick too. Probably wouldn’t order this again.

The Carne Asada Chimichanga was da bomb!! It taste as good as it looks in the picture! The Sirloin Beef was tender, juicy and flavorful. The tortilla was still crisp even with all the cheese and toppings. Even the salsa verde that came with it was delish. And, it is BIG!!! Fuckin awesome. I think the Carne Asada Burrito would be the shit that’s probably what I would get next time.

The margaritas are so so…

And please serve your beer a lot colder…in a frosted mug please…

It’s so fuckin hot today. I want to jump in a cold ass infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

I just wanted to say that yesterday was a full on food day. I woke up excited to watch Game 1, but was also hungry as well. Had pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then for lunch, we had a food tasting at Bowler. Salad, fishcakes, sirloin steak (2 kinds), ribs, burger patties (like 5 kinds?), fish sandwich (fillet-o-fish Quesads?) and ribeye steak (4 kinds). This ended at around 330pm. Francine earlier in the day, had an idea of getting together for dinner before Bowler. Since we were gonna be in the area and had nothing else to do, I agreed. This was at around 1030 in the morning. I didn’t know that was gonna happen at Bowler. Anyway, since I had the task of thinking where to have dinner, I wanted to try Orale, the new Mexican resto at The Fort. So, that’s where we went around 7pm. I was too full to order but got to try almost everyone else’s order hehe. Photo blogs coming up….

After a fun fun photo shoot at Blow Up Babies (Thank you Quark and Pam) I was in the mood for some pizza. Hints of Shakey’s, Yellow Cab, Gino’s, Fat Mike’s and even Fiamma tickled my palette, but I opted to go for some SNR Pizza.

And a polish dog.

They never fail me.

For P550 it’s definitely worth it.
